KKBT-FM Announces the Debut of The John Salley Block Party Morning Show

LOS ANGELES--(BUSINESS WIRE)--May 23, 2005--Radio One, Inc. (NASDAQ:ROIAK and ROIA) announced that today begins a new era in Los Angeles radio as KKBT-FM, 100.3 the Beat morning show host, Steve Harvey, hangs up his headphones, turns off his microphone and hands over the reigns to John Salley who will debut "The John Salley Block Party" this morning. In an unprecedented move, Mr. Harvey officially welcomed Mr. Salley to 100.3 the Beat by introducing him on air last week as the station's new morning show host. Mr. Salley is a former NBA superstar who won four title championship rings while playing for Detroit, Chicago and Los Angeles. He is also the host of Fox Sports' "The Best Damn Sports Show."

Mr. Harvey began with the Beat in September 2000 and helped create several events, including the Hoodie Awards, which recognized African-American leaders and organizations. In commenting on his departure, Mr. Harvey stated, "My last day on-air was a tough one as I close the door on this chapter. Please know that the people of Los Angeles have made me a better person, and I thank them for that."

Mr. Salley's goal is to continue 100.3 the Beat's dedication to the community, giving listeners a spiritual, uplifting and positive morning show that's also entertaining. He remarked that, "I have listened to the Beat since moving to Los Angeles in 1986 and love radio because your word is your wand, and your character is not judged by what you look like. I'm honored to join this legendary station; its signal is a powerful one in the community."

KKBT-FM General Manager, Sue Freund remarked, "This is a bittersweet moment for us here at 100.3 the Beat. While we are sad to see Mr. Harvey leave, we understand and respect his desire to spend more time with his family. At the same time, however, we're very excited to welcome Mr. Salley, whose work in the community will continue as he starts a new era in Los Angeles morning drive radio."
