Radio One, Inc. (Nasdaq: ROIAK; ROIA) announced today, effective immediately, that it has promoted Tony Fields to Program Director of KBFB-FM 97.9 "The Beat" in Dallas, Texas. He replaces Darryl Johnson, who was transferred to another Radio One property. Mr. Fields will retain his current position of Regional Vice President of Programming for stations in the Columbus, Dayton, Cincinnati, Minneapolis, Louisville, Raleigh and Indianapolis markets. He will be based in Dallas. In this position, Mr. Fields will direct the overall programming of the station. He will report to George Laughlin, General Manager of the Dallas station.

Mr. Fields was named Regional Vice President of Programming in the summer of 2001 when Radio One acquired Blue Chip Broadcasting. Mr. Fields began his broadcasting career in television working for WAVE-TV Channel 3 and WKPC-TV Channel 15 in Louisville, Kentucky. After finding radio broadcasting to be more aggressive and entertaining, he switched to the legendary station WLOU, formerly owned by Johnson Publishing Company and John H. Johnson. Earning his stripes at WLOU, Tony held positions at local radio stations, 99.7 WDJX, and 101.7 WJYL. After fulfilling a desire to test his audience appeal, Mr. Fields accepted Programming positions in Cincinnati, OH, San Francisco, CA, Norfolk, VA, Los Angeles, CA, and Milwaukee, WI. In 1993, Mr. Fields reached an even higher plateau by becoming Vice President of Broadcast Operations for Regan Henry's UNC Media. In 1996, Mr. Fields returned to Cincinnati accepting the Vice President reins for Blue Chip Broadcasting. Mr. Fields received several local and national awards as well as Billboard and Impact Magazine's Program Director of the Year in 1996, 1997, 1998, 1999 and 2000.

Commenting on the promotion, Mary Catherine Sneed, the Company's Chief Operating Officer stated, "Tony is an incredible programmer and I am ecstatic that I finally get to work with him. I think he has the ability to help us do great things with our programming efforts in Dallas."

"Tony comes to us with a wealth of programming experience. He has the ability to help us move to the next level. I'm very happy to have Tony here in Dallas," said George Laughlin, General Manager.
